I'm not familiar with debians format. I know that it supports ext formations and others to include lvm partitions that Fedora uses.

If you are using the released version of fsarchiver, you would need to backup the partitions on the original system.
On the new systems, you would have to build the partition structure and probable install the boot loader.

The beta version of fsarchiver has an option to backup and restore the partition setup and partitonis, but I have done a full restore with it, and don't know if it works with other than regular partitions. LVM partitions seem to be more complex, and am not familar with what the debian is using.

As a final option, I'm the maintainer of the g4l project, and it includes fsarchiver released and the beta in the latest alpa releases, but only has backup of partitions. It is a disk imaging project that mainly does it at the bit level that doesn't care what the OS is, but it does not have the option to resize partitions. It also has a clone option that can copy to another drive.

ftp://amd64gcc.dyndns.org/g4l0.38alpha/ ... lpha59.iso

Is the latest alpha, thou I am just downloading the new 3.0.1 kernel to add it to the next alpha.

Well, Good Luck.
